Oops, I forgot to post this! I desperately need a new coat for winter, and this is perfect for the cold nights walking home from uni, let's all just indulge at how divine the colour of this rain coat is. It is currently available from Fat stores and online here. Also, I am thinking of getting a new pair of knee high boots, to be honest I haven't worn a pair since I was 15 and they weren't even that high. Whaddyathink kiddies (I think they are divine)

*new drinking game, take a shot every time i type the word divine. GO

BLOG ROLL: COLOUR BLOGS

I would have to say, that aside from listening to audio clips of rain fall (sounds odd, but trust me that is just eternal bliss) and drinking green tea, colour blogs are the most calming and pleasing thing ever. Both visually and systematically, it has to be very OCD and perfectionists' dream, seeing everything collated by rich emeralds and deep purples and lemon yellows... colour blogs are a guilty little pleasure of mine.

colours of the wind

I will update this if i find some more favourite, brb while i fight the temptation to make a colour blog of my own!

9-5 STRUGGLE POST

(I don't have a pretty picture to accompany this spur of the moment post, so here is a photo of my nails for the week. Horrible quality ipod camera, eeep but it is actually a very pretty pink with clusters of gold flakes)

I had a very, very miserable day today. Another full monday class of Patternmaking + Production class from 9am to 5pm, sigh. All of the pressure is really hitting me with everything being due in a matter of weeks

  • toiles
  • final dress
  • final knit garment
  • embellishment project accessory x2
  • tech files for prod + patternmaking
  • design essay
  • design sketchbook
  • design embellishment folio
  • what else am i missing
  • surely some finance thing is due, oh yup the finance business plan 30% weight is due, oh no
But I think I have finally hit a moment of clarity! The entire time 9/10 weeks that have passed I have complained about the requirement that we construct a knit cardigan/jacket piece to match our dress because I really did not think a knit piece would tie in with my dress and ahhh I have felt so uneasy and forced with it, but I finally feel content! I won't go into too much detail because I need to sketch this all out but I just need to write down somewhere that I finally have a clear image of my piece, and I am pleased! Now to just spend the next three weeks married to my sewing machine + long and more often train rides to Box Hill. Sigh, I need to motivate myself (I need to take No Doz)

THIS WEEK: WEEKS APRIL 23rd - MAY 6

1-4: Prep for tea staining my dress fabric (which is still a work in progress as I am experimenting heaps. and by heaps i mean failing to get the print that I want, and so have gone through an entire box of green tea :( )
5: Some new fabric that I bought the other week from all of these little local fabric shops in Footscray and the velvet from Lincraft. I was really in the mood for making a checkered skirt (as I hinted in my previous post) maybe after all of my work is due I will get to make something. I also threw the red double crushed velvet in there because I could not resist it)
6-7: Unfinished floral drawings, I leave a lot of things unfinished.
8-13: An old circa 1990's Vogue Patterns book that I picked up from Savers for around 8-9 dollars, something about that price range. These are the books that you rummage through in fabric stores and then you go to the counter and request the patterns you want, the patterns don't come with the book of course but I sincerely love the illustrations and it is just a beautiful reference to have, i think at least!
14-15: Lucky me finding these gem old Vogue, Simplicity, New Look and Butterick Patterns from Savers for about $1-2 each. Perfect and simple, since I am too lazy to grade my size 10 blocks.
16: My new clam shell dish that I am absolutely obsessed with also from Savers (okay I had a big two weeks of knick knacks at Savers, sue me) and a darling little white ceramic bird candle holder, also from Savers. I think it was $2 as well.
17: The latest Australian Vogue with Joan Smalls on the cover.
