Rusalochka, 1968 ( The Little Mermaid) / Submission Collar / Childlike Empress (The Neverending Story) / Splendid Isolation III (click here) / Rusalochka, 1968 ( The Little Mermaid) / James Bond, 1963 (From Russia With Love) / Delta of Venue, Anais Nin / Project Posh Fabric Swatches
As per usual, I begun my exploration and research via images that captivated my attention and resonated with the theme in mind. Apart from the obvious imagery of cat collars and bondage, I also sought inspiration from cinematic heroins, similar to Rusalochka (The Russian Little Mermaid.) At first I found it hard to explain why I was taking such a soft and fragile approach on an otherwise very strong and dominant (no pun intended) subject of BDSM, but the more I researched the more it made sense to me. The innocence and blind trust and devotion are for me what truly draws me to this topic. I spend a disgustingly large amount of my time online (hello quirky web presence which explains my actual lack of real life presence) and so a lot of these images have been collated from my Pinterest, Tumblr and Style Sight accounts. Each semester most of my inspiration is drawn from the common themes that I have blogged or pinned about, and looking over this all I guess this theme has been in my head longer than I realized.
